I’ve had to work a lot of overtime for ARC Interactive these past few weeks, so I’ve had limited time to work on the puzzle prototype. Still, it’s coming along, and iterations have already changed to make the game more fun, interesting and, most importantly, balanced. It also has a story concept set in Mural Land, a tiny world within a happy wall painting. I think it’s goofy enough to feel heartwarming.
Flash CS4 is a pain in the butt too, but I’m not sure if I want to abandon that form yet. A decent hunk of the prototype is on Flash stages right now, and I wouldn’t want that to go to waste. If I can’t finish it by the time my CS4 license expires, I’ll have to fall back to videotape and see what happens.
Anyway, perhaps a deadline for Christmas was a foolish gamble. I think I’ll say that the alpha will be due by Christmas, with beta and/or release on February 1st, or Valentine’s Day. So, if you’re looking for a cute little game to get for your hunny bunny or sugarlump or a loved one by another weird name… and you don’t have a lot of dough… maybe my game will jump out at you, eager to please and shine your shoes!
I wish I could get it on the DS, but the time and manpower would be phenomenal at this point. That, and the SDK still costs ten grand. Oh well.
See you soon; Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!
